The Nigeria Police Force, in partnership with the GS-Foundation and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Nigeria, has commenced a six-week intensive community policing training programme for officers in the Garki District of Abuja, under the Community Policing Engagement Project.
The training sessions began on May 5 and continued to May 13, 2025. Officers were engaged in courses focusing on ethics, accountability, public engagement, and crisis intervention. Participants demonstrated a high level of enthusiasm and a strong willingness to reflect, learn, and apply new ideas to their policing duties.
As part of the broader project goals, the GS-Foundation also made a significant contribution to the Nigeria Police by donating essential office equipment to the Department of Research and Planning. The items, including desktop computers, printers, and office furniture will support the documentation, tracking, and evaluation of community policing activities.
This ongoing collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force, GS-Foundation, and UNDP highlights a shared commitment to enhancing operational capacity and fostering stronger community-police relations, in alignment with the specific needs and priorities of the Garki District.
