CHINESE DEPUTY AMBASSADOR VISITS IGP · PROMISES TO ENHANCE POLICE CAPACITY BUILDING


The Chinese Deputy Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Qin Jian on June 29, 2016 paid a courtesy visit to the Acting Inspector-General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris, NPM, mni in his office at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

 

In his message, Qin Jian said he was in the office of the Inspector-General of Police to felicitate with the IGP on his assumption of leadership of the Nigeria Police Force.

 

Mr Qin Jian said China and Nigeria have a bilateral relationship that dates back over 45 years and that his government is ready to assist the Nigeria Police in its quest for capacity building. He also promised that China will assist the Nigeria Police in various specialized training to enhance capacity and proficiency.

 

He further said that the offer of training is in furtherance to the outcome of the recent visit of President Mohammadu Buhari to China.

 

Responding, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris, NPM, mni, expressed profound appreciation to the Ambassador for the visit, especially in the offer of assistance by the Chinese Government to assist build the capacity of the Nigeria Police, promising that the Nigeria Police Force will ensure the actualization of  the Chinese Government offer, in line with the Force need analysis. The IGP also assured the Ambassador of the Nigeria Police commitment to protect foreign nationals and their legitimate interests in Nigeria.
